About Lindos: a magnificent acropolis on a imposing rock
On the top of the same rock stands a centuries-old acropolis, proudly overlooking the archipelagos. The acropolis bears silent witness to Lindos’ glorious past, a major naval power of ancient times which reputedly had a population of 17,000.

The view of Lindos village with its cubic houses sprawling down the hillside under the acropolis is one of the most photographed scenes in Greece. The whitewashed labyrinth of little alleyways was deliberately designed to confuse pirates; today this layout makes wandering around the town a real adventure!

According to tradition the temple of Athena on the Acropolis was founded by Danaus, who came to the island with his 50 daughters to escape the rage of the goddess Hera. Follow the same ancient path that the ancient Rhodians took. When you reach the acropolis you will see a 280 BC relief of a Rhodian Trireme (ancient Greek warship) carved into the rock, an indication of the naval power of ancient Rhodes.

    Prasonisi
Prasonisi is the Greek word for "green island". During summer time, and when water levels are low enough, this island is a peninsula attached to Rhodes. During the winter time, and when water levels are high enough, Prasonisi becomes an island.

Prasonisi is noted to be a good place for windsurfing and kitesurfing due to predictable and reliable winds. From one side of the cape there is the Aegean Sea with good waves and views for advanced surfers. From the other side, there is the Mediterranean Sea with flat water which is better suited for beginners.

    Monolithos
Monolithos Castle was built around 1480 by the Knights of St. John and it is certainly an impressive sight. The structure of the enormous rock is breathtaking by itself and it evokes its name perfectly - Monolithos (Lonely Rock). The fortress at Monolithos came under attack many times but no one ever were able to conquer it.

In old times, this castle was considered one of the four most powerful fortresses on the island, but today only the external walls fortifications remain. Inside the perimeter of the walls there are two 15th century chapels, St. Panteleimon and St. George. Looking around the ruins it is easy to notice that the castle was actually built on the foundations of another, older castle.

But it’s not for the ruins or even the beautiful whitewashed churches you should climb there – it’s the breathtaking view that looks over the sea and the numerous islets off the western coast, the mountain of Akramytis and innumerable hills, as well as the village of Monolithos below. As a visitor once said: “In Greece, you know, the landscape often gives you a sense of the presence of Gods. The site of Monolithos is certainly one of these”.

    Siana
The village of Siana is exceptionally famous for its excellent thyme-infused honey. Families of beekeepers sell their home-made honey in booths along the main street. Rhodian honey is really hard to beat and Siana excels at its production so by no means should you miss the chance of tasting it.

    Embonos
Embonos village is famous for the big amount of vineyards and unbelievably good wine. For our stop there you will be able to see a small traditional house of Embonos and to have a feeling how the people of the village used to live many years ago.

Ever wonder how “souma” drink is made? We are going to show you the distillery where locals are producing it, you will taste this drink together with different kinds of honey, olive oil and BIG amounts of incredible good local wine, which you will never find in supermarkets to buy! Take your time to try as many as you want under the view of Attaviros mountain.

After wine tasting we invite you to have a lunch in Embonos village, where we recommend to try local delicatessens, such as "tyrocrocketes", "pitaroudia", "anthus" and many more. Combined with local wine it will leave you unforgettable memories.
